Heart and Whistle Lake, Anacortes

Spring is here! Sunday we had a beautiful ride in the Anacortes Community Forest lands. The sun was out and the temperature was a perfect 70 degrees. We began at the park by Heart Lake and eventually found our way to Whistle lake. It is a great spot for fishing, swimming and even some cliff jumping (though the horses did not). The trails were well maintained and marked. In the morning we did not see a sole, but by the afternoon the park was full of hikers, bikers and even a motorcycle or two. Everyone had good trail manners as we passed (thank god because bikes can be scary to a horse like Joker) Natalee, who is the brave one who rides Joker will second that. I believe we were to only horses on the mountain that day but we could tell that horses had been there recently. I would love to return and explore the area more and there was plenty of trail. If you are the kind that likes a map they are available at the visitor information center in Anacortes for $10. If you are looking for a new adventure this place is worth checking out.
Pictures coming....
